Stay Grounded: know your burnout signs

Anthony Morell gets real about dropping his polished corporate image, finding his voice on LinkedIn, and the leading indicators that tell him he's heading for burnout.

Anthony Morell spent his career in corporate trying to be what he calls a nice little pretty wrapped box. You know the type, polished, well spoken, and always put together. He found out pretty quick that keeping up an image like that is exhausting. So he just stopped. Now his voice on LinkedIn is completely his own, and he says creating content is easy because he’s not making anything up anymore.

At his core, Anthony is a faith and community guy. His whole healing thing started there, with learning to see his own value instead of looking for validation everywhere else. His wife gave him some of the best advice I’ve heard on the show. The best way you can show up for us, she told him, is by taking care of yourself. You can’t pour from an empty cup, and he really took that to heart.

I asked him for his leading indicators for burnout, the signs that pop up before everything crashes. For him, the first thing to go is his daily habits. When working out or journaling starts to feel like a chore he can skip, he knows he needs to check in with himself. The other big red flag is isolation. When he does not want to talk to people, he knows something heavy is building up that he needs to release.

“Healing can get heavy.”
